Covering the shore
lifting head and tail
giant sleek ocean dogs
waiting for the day
to creep around
the shorewall or the mist
in the distant bay
trawlers head out
to begin today's work
a smokestack
stands on the opposite shore
sending it's white plume
up in front of the mountains
into the gull chattering air
